This service provides photocopies and scans of material from our collections.

For costs, see the Image and print prices. Please note that minimum charges apply to all orders.

After you submit an enquiry, we will send you a quote by email within 10 working days. The quote will include a link to pay through PayPal. If you do not have a PayPal account, you can use a credit card. To find out about other payment options, please contact enquiries@nls.uk.

Your personal information will be held and used by the National Library of Scotland for the purposes of responding to your enquiry and processing your order. For full information see our Privacy page, in particular our Purchases and Enquiries privacy notices.

You must state the reference number for Archives and Manuscript Collections. If you are in the Special Collections Reading Room please speak to a member of staff before completing this form.

  1. enlargements/reductions/actual size
  2. seamed maps, georeferenced map images, etc.
  3. any other special requirements

Personal

By requesting a personal copy of in-copyright material I declare that:

  • I have not previously been supplied with a copy of this material by any library;
  • I require the copy for the purposes of research for a non-commercial purpose or for private study, will use the copy only for those purposes and will not supply the copy to any other person; and
  • (in the case of copies requested from published works only) to the best of my knowledge, no other person with whom I work or study has made, or intends to make, at or about the same time as this request, a request for substantially the same material for substantially the same purpose.

I understand that if I make a declaration that is false in a material particular the copy supplied to me by the Library will be an infringing copy and I will be responsible for infringement of copyright as if I had made the copy myself.

In addition, in the case of copies requested from unpublished works only, to the best of my knowledge:

  • this material was not published or communicated to the public before it was placed in the collections of the National Library of Scotland and
  • the copyright owner(s) of this material has not prohibited the copying of the material

A 'copyright cleared' copy for commercial research on payment of the appropriate fee, charged on behalf of the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA).
